Skip bin hire conditions
Skip bins must be filled to the top rail and no higher. All waste must be stowed so the tarp can be fastened safely.
The check

It is illegal to transport an overloaded bin, so drivers cannot collect a bin where the waste sits above the rail or exceeds capacity.
The fill rule
Fill to the top rail, not above it. This is not a preference, it is a transport law: an overloaded bin cannot legally leave your site, and a driver who arrives to one has to leave it behind. Load heavy material flat and low, and stow everything so the tarp can be fastened over the top.
Overfilling and safety
To meet Occupational Health and Safety requirements, do not overfill the bin and make sure the load is secure before pick-up. Overloaded or unsafe bins may incur additional fees. If you finish with the bin earlier than expected, call the office and we will arrange collection.
What is not permitted
Anything classed as dangerous or hazardous is out. Call us with your specific requirements and we will tell you where it can go.

Charged terms
Weight allowance and excess
Every bin carries a weight allowance set by its size and the waste type booked. Going over it is charged per tonne. Green waste bins that contain other waste attract additional charges. Heavy material reaches the allowance long before it fills the bin, which is why soil, rubble and concrete belong in a smaller size.

Diesel
Fuel surcharge
Prices are based on diesel under $2.00 per litre. We reserve the right to introduce a reasonable fuel surcharge when diesel rises above $2 per litre. Each 20c above that threshold equates to a 1 percent fuel surcharge.

Placement and access
A driveway or lawn is the best place for a skip bin. Footpath and nature strip placements are possible where space is limited, as long as they leave pedestrian access. A council car park needs a permit arranged before delivery, such as the parking bays in the Cairns CBD. Call us first and we will work out where it goes.

How long you keep it
Hire period
The standard hire period is up to 7 days, and in most cases we can extend it for a small additional cost. You do not have to keep the bin for the full period: call when you are done or when it is full and we will collect it.
