Big Boyz Binz hires four skip bin sizes across Cairns: 2m³, 3m³, 4m³ and 6m³. The 2m³ bin measures 1.9 x 1.6 x 0.9 metres and is the smallest and cheapest. The 6m³ bin measures 3.7 x 1.6 x 1.25 metres and is the largest. Building, general, household and green waste are taken in every size. Clean fill is taken in the 2m³, 3m³ and 4m³ only, and concrete up to the 6m³, because heavy material reaches the weight limit before it fills a larger bin.
What changes between the sizes is how much fits, which waste types the bin can be booked for, and how the weight is priced. Heavy material like soil and concrete belongs in a smaller bin than you would expect, and above a point it cannot go in a bigger one at all.

This is the clearest reason to separate a load. Keep metals, concrete and green waste out of the general bin and we sort them at our own recycling centre rather than tipping them at someone else's, which costs less to process. You need enough room for a medium skip bin truck to back up and unload from the rear. Measure the width of gates, and check for overhanging gutters and low powerlines. A driveway or lawn is the best place for a skip bin. Footpath and nature strip placements are possible where space is tight, as long as people can still get past. A council car park needs a permit, so call first.
